It was very sweet and a great way to recycle.Mary Bethhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15147791473133449106noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1788003422039639739.post-41283730333894658942007-08-19T18:47:00.000-07:002007-08-19T18:47:00.000-07:00I also like book exchanges -- each guest brings an...I also like book exchanges -- each guest brings and returns home with a new book.Olugbemisola (Mrs.Pilkington)https://www.blogger.com/profile/07326151417945506446noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1788003422039639739.post-32830043240524243032007-08-17T05:12:00.000-07:002007-08-17T05:12:00.000-07:00Mothering Magazine, a few years ago, had a wonderf...Mothering Magazine, a few years ago, had a wonderful letter that you could give to gift givers and an entire article about how to gently let people know what kind of gifts you do and don't want. I am sure you could call them and find out which issue or it might be on their website. We also give a very special themed item to bring and an option to bring nothing. One year we were making my son a cookbook so all the guests brought a copy of their favorite recipe and a photo of themselves, another year a bead and a wish to add to a string of wish beads for above his bed and the wishes went into a book. This last year everyone was asked to bring a favorite book, preferably used. I think this next year we will have a dress up party and guests can bring something to add to his dress up collection for their own closet or a thrift store like a scarf, funny hat, belt, cape, shoes, bag, jewelry, etc... I think no one wants to arrive at a birthday empty handed or let a birthday pass without sending something so a very specific request is helpful to you and to the giver. I hope that helps.Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11526338165611670659noreply@blogger.com
